The token strike launched by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) at 8.00 am yesterday, demanding that salary anomalies in the public service are removed ended at 8 this morning.

Work at Out Patient’s Departments (OPDs) and clinics in hospitals across the island came to a standstill yesterday and patients were thoroughly inconvenienced.

Meanwhile, the strike launched by employees of the Sri Lanka Transport Board based on 5 demands including that they be paid the raise of Rs. 2500 granted to other government workers, ended last evening. This was due to authorities providing solutions to their problems.

Anyhow, the strike commenced by non-academic staff of universities based on several demands is continuing today for the tenth day.
