The Army has requested disabled soldiers engaged in a Sathyagraha to remain calm and give a fair amount of time to act regarding their problem.

Army Media Spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu requests the disabled soldiers to trust in the positive responses shown up to now regarding solving their problems.

The Sathyagraha launched based on several demands including the problem of salaries of soldiers who died during operations and disabled soldiers, opposite the Fort Railway Station is continuing for the tenth day.

Even though the protesting disabled soldiers attempted to go to the Presidential Secretariat last afternoon, a heated situation erupted.

Later, with the coordination of Police Officers of the Fort Police, several of the disabled soldiers engaged in the Sathyagraha were taken to the President’s office for a discussion with the President’s Secretary Udaya R. Seneviratne.

The disabled soldiers said that since that discussion failed too, they will continue with the Sathyagraha.

Anyhow, Army Spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu said that even as of now, relevant sectors have been informed already regarding the problems of the disabled soldiers.
