The MET department states that the prevailing showery condition over the south-western part of the island is expected to reduce by some extent from tomorrow.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces.

Duty Meteorologist Kasun Pasquel stated that heavy falls above 100 millimetres are likely at some places in Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

Owing to the inclement weather, one death has been reported and 80,007 individuals belonging to 20,815 families in the Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Galle, Hambanthota, Kandy and Kegalle districts have been adversely affected.

The DMC noted that they are sheltered at 42 locations.

Further owing to the inclement weather 30 homes have been completely damaged and 819 houses have been partially damaged.

Meanwhile, the national building research organization noted that the landslide warning issued to Galle, Kalutara, Ratnapura and Matara districts have been extended until 10 am today.

Further the Kalu, Gin, Nilvala rivers have reached flood levels, and Attanagalu oya is also at a risk.
