The Elections Secretariat and Galle District Returning Officer Somaratne Vidanapathirana says that the postal voting was be held peacefully in the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections.

Postal voting began at 9am this morning at 269 service stations across the country for 1192 eligible postal voters.

Postal voters who are unable to cast their votes today will be able to cast their votes at District Election Offices on the 4th of next month.

The Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections are scheduled to be held on October 11. Seventeen members will be elected for the 17 divisions and 11 members are elected from the second list.

A total of 53,384 voters are eligible to cast their votes for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections, which will be held based on the 2018 electoral register.

The Galle District Returning Officer Somaratne Vidanapathirana told our news team that the postal voting which commenced this morning is peaceful.

It is reported that PAFFREL has posted election monitors to monitor the postal voting of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections.
