The Presidential Commission appointed to inquire into Easter Sunday Terrorist attacks and report or take necessary action has requested the public to provide information regarding the incident. The Commission informs the public to send all relevant submissions by registered post on or before the 14th of next month. All statements and complaints regarding the incident have to always be confirmed by an affidavit.

The Commission stated that upon receipt of the written notice, the relevant individuals and organizations will be invited to give oral testimony. The Presidential Commission stated that every person who testifies is protected by the Commissions of Inquiry Act No 17 of 1948 and Assistance to and Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses ACT, No. 4 OF 2015.

The President appointed this Presidential Commission of Inquiry which comprises nine members, headed by Appeal Court Judge Janak de Silva, issuing an extraordinary gazette notification on the 21st of September. The commission has been entrusted with the task of carrying out an investigation pertaining to the Easter Sunday Terrorist Attack and to identify incidents, persons, organisations and the misuse of power by public officials regarding the incident and the misconduct and negligence of officials.

The Commission stated that the Attorney General will be able to consider filing criminal charges against persons found guilty.
