The Department of Railways intends to lodge a complaint with the police against the trade unions launching a strike action.

General Manager of Railways Dilantha Fernando said that legal action will be taken if the employees who are involved in the strike do not report to work on Monday.

Despite railways been proclaimed as an essential service the train strike continues for a 10th day today as well.

While 12 train journeys were in operation this morning, General Manager of railways Dilantha Fernando said that steps have been taken to operate 8 train journeys in the afternoon.

Meanwhile our news team made an inquiry from the trade unions engaged in the strike action regarding their future action.

Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers union Indika Dodangoda said that the strike will not be abandoned until solutions are provided for their salary anomalies.
