The police headquarters states that the news published on social media recently mentioning that the police had instructed to remove a Buddha statue which was installed in a motor vehicle is false.

Director of Traffic Control and Road Safety Superintendent of Police, Indika Hapugoda conducted an investigation into the matter under the direction of the Inspector General of Police.

Accordingly, it has been revealed that the driver of the car had been informed by the police only to remove the floral garlands which were falling over obstructing the view from the windscreen of the car.

Subsequent to this incident, the police requested drivers to refrain from using ornaments and floral garlands that obstruct the windscreen.
