The Government Medical Officers Association states that they will resort to trade union action if the Health Ministry fails to pay their communication allowances.
Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Nalin Ariyaratne stated that the health ministry officials have already been informed of this matter.
The government decided to pay doctors a communications allowance since last year.
However, the GMOA alleges that payments have not been made consistently.
When we spoke to Deputy Minister of Health Lalith Dissanayake he stated that the allowances will be paid depending on the funds received by the provincial councils.
