Activities of several universities have been hindered due to the trade union action launched university non academic staff.

Joint Secretary of the Inter University Trade Unions Federation D M Senarathna speaking to our news team stated that a discussion would be held this afternoon with the Salaries Commission regarding their salary anomalies.

Although a discussion was held yesterday with the Higher Education Minister it was unsuccessful.

The Joint Secretary of the Federation further stated that if a solution is not received at today’s discussion they would continue their trade union action.

Meanwhile, although Health Service Assistant officers commenced a trade union action by taking sick leave today it was reported that hospital activities were not hindered.
