U.S military is not in Sri Lanka, says Sri Lanka Army

The Spokesperson of the Sri Lanka Army Brigadier Nihal Hapuaarachchi states that as at present neither the members of the U.S military nor the military of any other country are in Sri Lanka.

The Spokesperson of the Sri Lanka Army made this statement in response to a statement made by a U.S top commander that members of the U.S Special Forces are in several South Asian countries including Sri Lanka.

The Indian P.T.I had reported that Admiral Robert Willard had made this statement at a U.S congress committee meeting.

Admiral Robert Willard had stated that the U.S Student Forces are staying Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Maldives as part of a terrorism eradication process.

During the congress committee investigation, Admiral Robert Willard also stated that the U.S assists India to act against Lashkar-e-Tayyeba which is active in Pakistan following the Mumbai terror attack in 2208.

It is further reported that during this meeting the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake had mentioned that counter-terrorism activities in India is vital for the U.S.
