Minister of corporatives and internal trade Johnston Fernando has ordered the consumer affairs authority to inspect the existing milk powder stocks in the market.
According to ministry sources Minister Johnston Fernando has focused his attention on this matter before considering the request made by milk powder companies to increase the price of milk powder.
He has also ordered to check when milk powder was imported to the country previously.
Sources further stated that the minister has decided not to increase the prices of milk powder until all the information is gathered.
Milk powder companies states that they incur a loss of 37 rupees per imported kilo gram of milk powder.
