Sri Lankan and South African ministers are to discuss deepening bilateral ties when they meet in Pretoria later today.

South Africa’s international relations and cooperation minister Maite Mashabane will host External Affairs Minister, Prof. G.L. Peiris for talks.

The department of international relations and cooperation says Prof. Peiris is expected to brief minister Mashabane on political, economic and social developments in Sri Lanka.

The South African minister visited Sri Lanka together in October 2009, followed by a visit to Sri Lanka in November 2011 by deputy minister of international relations and cooperation Ebrahim Ebrahim.

Trade between Sri Lanka and South Africa has seen a steady increase in growth in both exports and imports.

The announcement of a 800 million US Dollar investment from Sun International in a new hotel venture in Sri Lanka is testimony to this.
