Supreme Court today decided to take up for hearing the petitions that were filed over fundamental rights violation as a result of the shooting that took place during the protest staged by Katunayaka Free Trade Zone Employees against the Private Sector Pension scheme.

Accordingly, the bench comprising 3 headed by Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayaka ordered the case to be taken up for hearing on the 27th of this month.

Former IGP Mahinda Balasuriya, OIC’s of Katunayaka and Seeduwa Police stations and Senior DIG in Charge of the Western Province have been named as respondents.

Petitions were filed by 10 Free Trade Zone employees.
