When we spoke to him he did confirm that he has sent a letter to the Inian premier but refused to comment on the contents of it.

However, highly informed sources of the TNA state that the letter was sent requesting for a meeting with the Prime Minister and other high ranking officials of the Indian government.

The TNA requested for such meeting with Indian authorities on several previous occasions but did not receive a positive response.

Meanwhile, Indian parliamentarian of the DMK party T R Baalu has also sent a request to the Speaker of the Indian parliament.

Baalu is requesting for an opportunity to speak on Sri Lanka at the budget debate due to begin this month.

In a letter to the speaker he states that discussions need to be held on Sri Lanka’s human rights, political solutions and the fishermen’s issues.
