Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa yesterday termed India's support to Sri Lanka at the United Nation Human Rights Council untenable and demanded support for the US resolution next month against Sri Lanka.
In a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Jayalalithaa, referring to her earlier letter on February 29th said: "The media reports mention that India is against the 'Country Specific' resolutions and wants to take up discussions only under Universal Periodic Review as a routine matter.
Noting that her February 29th letter had gone unanswered, Jayalalithaa said that she awaited a positive response to it.
Meanwhile, members of the Indian Communist Party held a fast in Tamil Nadu yesterday requesting the Indian government not to support Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva.
Indian media reports indicated that around 100 members of the Communist and MDMK parties took part in this fast campaign.
