The Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena states that there are no short-comings when providing medicines to patients.
The Minister was speaking on the occasion of handing over the renovated Nochchiyagama hospital to the people.
His comments were in response to an allegation made by UNP General Secretary MP Tissa Attanayaka at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday.
MP Tissa Attanayaka had alleged that the Health Ministry has released a circular regarding restricting medicine that is given to patients.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena refuted this allegation.
Speaking on the incident where a mother is said to have passed away at the De Soyza Maternity Hospital recently due to sub-standard medication that was given to her, the Minister stated that if this is proven he is ready to resign from his post.
