The Supreme Court today rejected the request made by the IGP to amend the court order that was issued previously to promote 634 Police Sergeants to the rank of Sub Inspector of Police.

The IGP moving a motion stated that when implementing the court order certain administrative issues crop up.

Petitioner pointed out that the IGP had no right to forward such a motion.

The 3 member Supreme Court bench panel who considered the facts that were presented rejected the IGP’s request and ordered the promotions to be carried out.
