The Parliament General Secretary Dhammika Dissanayake states that the activities of telecasting the parliamentary sessions live are now being carried out.
Speaking to our News Team, the Parliament General Secretary stated that according to the instructions of the Speaker of the House Chamal Rajapakse the live telecast of parliamentary sessions of other countries are now being analysed.
Speaking further the Parliament General Secretary stated that a final decision with regard to launching a separate television channel for this live telecast or telecasting it through an existing television channel.
The Parliament General Secretary Dhammika Dissanayake pointed out that the digital cameras which are installed within the parliament chambers are suitable for this live telecast and accordingly the parliamentary sessions could be telecast live in the near future.
The Parliament General Secretary also stated that there is also a suggestion to install several wide screens to facilitate the parliamentarians who are within the parliament chambers and the viewers in the gallery so that they could clearly identify the speakers to address the sessions.
