President Mahinda Rajapakse states that the support extended by the general public with regard to brining peace to the country and carrying out development projects is appreciated.
The President stated that neither Sinhala nor Tamil youth died due to terrorist activities after defeating terrorism.
Participating at the declare opening of the Anura Bandaranayake Memorial Clinical building which was held in Wathupitiwala today, the President stated that certain factions are raising allegations against the country with regard to human rights amidst such a peaceful situation.
The President also declared open a memorial photograph of Former Minister Anura Bandaranayake.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapakse participated at the Japanese tsunami commemoration which was held at the Official Residence of the Japanese Ambassador in Colombo today.
19 thousand human lives were lost due to the earthquake and tsunami which occurred at Fukushima in Japan on the 11th of March 2011.
Participating at this occasion, the President had pointed out that the friendship which exists between Sri Lanka and Japan and the assistance provided during the tsunami tragedy in Sri Lanka is highly appreciated.
