Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has decided to provide transport facilities to all displaced registered voters for the Pudukudirippu and Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabha elections.

He added that de-mining has not been completed in 7 villages in the Mulativ district.

The residents of these villages are currently residing in camps in Settikulam and Menikfarm.

The commissioner added that although 60,000 people were living in these villages only 600-1000 had registered to vote.

Therefore a report is to be prepared regarding the missing residents and then transport requirements decided.

Accordingly, transport will be provided at 6:30am from the Settikulam camp on the 24th of March to the polling stations.

However, a decision is yet to be made regarding providing transport to voters who are currently residing in other areas.
