The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Geneva Thamara Kunanayagam states that the vote on the proposal put forward by the US against Sri Lanka at the 19th Session of the UN Human Rights Council will be held during the latter part of the council sessions.
Accordingly, it is expected that this vote will take place on the 22nd or 23rd of March.
If this proposal is approved, Sri Lanka will be under the special supervision of the Office of the Human Rights Commission.
However, it is reported that the US has changed this proposal and presented it to the session.
The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Geneva also stated that there is no clear idea as yet with regard to the countries which support this proposal.
