The report on the sudden infant deaths at the Maha Modara Hospital is due to be handed over to the Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena today.
The report was compiled by a team of five specialists who were sent to conduct extensive investigations in to the infant deaths.
The Health Ministry stated that the investigation has found that a germ carried by an infant who was transferred from a different Post Natal Unit was the root cause of the deaths.
Another team of specialists from the Medical Research Institute will leave for the Maha Modara Hospital today.
Meanwhile, the Post Natal Unit was shut down last Saturday due to the current situation.
7 infants who were being treated at this unit passed away due to a germ infection recently.
One of the more recent incidents was that of twins who passed away on the 24th of last month.
