The protest initiated by the Former Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Buddhist Temple Venerable Namalwawe Rathanasara thero in objection to removing him from the position of Chief Incumbent is still being carried out.
Commencing the protest yesterday Venerable Namalwawe Rathanasara thero stated that he does not accept the decision taken by the Malwattu Maha Vihariya Karaka Maha Sanga Council to remove him from the position of Chief Incumbent.
However, expressing views to our News Team the Former Chief Incumbent who is engaging in a protest today stated that he will suspend his protest if Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Dhammarathana thero who was appointed as the Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Buddhist Temple is removed from the relevant position.
Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Mahindarathana thero who is at the relevant Buddhist temple too challenges the decision taken by the Malwattu Maha Vihariya Karaka Maha Sanga Council to appoint Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Dhammarathana thero as its Chief Incumbent.
Expressing views to our News Team, Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Mahindarathana thero stated that there are several court cases filed against Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Dhammarathana thero who was appointed as the Chief Incumbent.
However, Venerable Walawahangunuwawe Dhammarathana thero who is newly appointed as the Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Buddhist Temple stated that every step will be taken to safeguard his Buddhist temple which was once visited by Venerable Mihindu thero who introduced Buddhism to Sri Lanka.
When our News Team inquired the Registrar of the Malwattu Maha Vihara Karaka Sanga Council Venerable Pahamune Sri Sumangala thero with regard to the rumours and allegations which are spread on this incident, he stated that it is a unanimous decision of the Sanga Council.
Speaking further he stated that a detailed statement would be done in the future with this regard after obtaining the permission of the Chief Prelate.
