Fonseka made death threats, revealed in courts

The case filed by the Attorney General against Sarath Fonseka and his Secretary Senaka Silva under the allegation of acting to turn 10 army soldiers against the government was taken up for hearing today before the Chief Judge of the Colombo High Court Sunil Rajapakse.

Brigadier Ashok Weerasinghe who acted as the Pro-Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army during Sarath Fonseka’s tenure as the Chief of Staff, providing evidence at the court first stated that information was received that Sarath Fonseka had illegally kept motor vehicles and soldiers after his retirement.

Providing further evidence Brigadier Ashok Weerasinghe stated that he sent a disciplinary team to look into the relevant motor vehicles and soldiers and that Sarath Fonseka had scolded them and had threatened to shot them if they did not leave.

The High Court Judge postponed the further hearings of this case until the 15th of March and also ordered Brigadier Ashok Weerasinghe to produce himself before the court.
