Minister of Irrigation and Aquatic Resources Nimal Siripala De Silva held a meeting with the Surveyor General and officials from the survey department yesterday in connection with bringing down Indian surveyors to survey lands in the Mahaweli.

A decision was taken at this meeting to postpone the arrival of Indian surveyors.

The government hoped to bring down Indian surveyors since they believed that there were an insufficient amount of surveyors in Sri Lanka to carry out the tasks.

However, the Surveyor General had assured that the Mahaweli project will be completed as soon as possible.
