The Sri Lanka Transport Board states that a special meeting will be
convened this afternoon in order to solve several shortcomings experienced by the employees of the SLTB.

According to a senior spokesperson of the SLTB, this meeting will be
held between the Deputy Minister of Transportation, the Chairman of SLTB
and several Trade Union representatives.

Meanwhile, the strike launched by the SLTB against salary anomalies has spread across several SLTB depots island wide.

The All Island Transportation Services Union had meanwhile convened a
press briefing in Colombo this morning.

Speaking at the press conference the General Secretary of the Union
Sepala Liyanage stated that if their demands are not taken into
consideration by the relevant authorities, they will have to engage in
a continuous strike.



However, an SLTB employee V. Nandasena from the
Anuradhapura-Medawachchiya SLTB depot had launched a fast unto death
campaign today.
