The Acting Minister of Transportation Rohana Dissanayaka stated that the Finance ministry had agreed to increase the minimum salary of SLTB employees by 3300 rupees.
The Acting Transportation Minister also added that the Secretary to the Finance Ministry P.B. Jayasundara had informed the Transportation Ministry regarding this adjustment.
Meanwhile, SLTB employees still continue to engage in the strike they launched for the fourth straight day, today in several depots islandwide, until several other demands along with their basic salary anomalies are fulfilled.
Moreover, a discussion was held today between the Acting Transportation Minister and the Trade Unions that participated in the on-going strike.
Accordingly, addressing a press briefing held this afternoon the Acting Transportation Minister Rohana Dissanayaka declared that steps are underway to increase the Basic Salary of an SLTB employee from eight thousand four hundred and thirty rupees to eleven thousand seven hundred and thirty rupees.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the North-Western Division of the Sri Lanka Freedom Workers Union Bandula Rathnayaka also speaking at the press briefing held this afternoon requested the SLTB employees who were engaged in the on-going strike to return to their usual activities from tommorrow.
