Army assistance sought at State Pharmacies.

The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Professor H.D. Jayaratne states that the assistance of pharmacists of the Sri Lanka Army have been requested in order to issue medicines at state pharmacies.

The OPD Units at hospitals did not issue medicines due to the trade union action implemented by the supplementary medical officials for the past 06 days.

Thereafter, the Ministry of Health vested the responsibility of issuing medicines to patients upon the state pharmacies.

The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation stated that this request was made from the Sri Lanka Army due to insufficient staff within the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation to carry out the task of issuing medicines to patients.

When we inquired from the Deputy Minister of Health Lalith Dissanayake with regard to the trade union action carried out by the Supplementary Medical Services Federation and the discussions which are being held with this regard, he had this to say…



We also inquired from the Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Professor H.D. Jayaratne with regard to the procedure of issuing medicines to patients through pharmacies which are under the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
