The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Professor H.D. Jayaratne states that the assistance of pharmacists of the Sri Lanka Army have been requested in order to issue medicines at state pharmacies.
The OPD Units at hospitals did not issue medicines due to the trade union action implemented by the supplementary medical officials for the past 06 days.
Thereafter, the Ministry of Health vested the responsibility of issuing medicines to patients upon the state pharmacies.
The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation stated that this request was made from the Sri Lanka Army due to insufficient staff within the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation to carry out the task of issuing medicines to patients.
