Former Chief Prelate of the Mihintalaa Rajamaha Vihaaraya Ven. Naamalwaevey Ratanasaara Thero has been removed from the post of head of the Sub-Main Sangha Court.

A communiqué signed by Chief Incumbent of the Malwatta Chapter Ven.Tibbatuwaawey Sri Sumangala Thero states that this was a unanimous decision taken by the Executive Committee of the Malwatta Chapter that met on the 16th of this month.

Ven.Valavaahaengunuwaevey Dhammaratana Thero has been appointed for the post of Chief Prelate of the Mihintalaa Rajamahaa Viharaya till the verdict on the child abuse case filed against the former chief prelate is delivered.

It is mentioned that the removal came as a result of Ven.Naamalwaewey Ratanasaara Thero disagreeing with the decision and creating a stir at the Malwatta Temple premises, the launch of a fast unto death and non-cooperation with the new Chief Prelate to carry on the duties of his position.
