The United National Party has instructed its members on having political meetings or other functions outside of their own electorate.
Accordingly, members have been told that they need to inform the respective electorate organizer, if any member needs to organize a public meeting or other function in an electorate not their own.
The UNP General Secretary has informed all party members that they need to obtain the permission of the electorate organizers as well.
The instructions were given to the members based on recommendations made by party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
Further more if a member needs to organize a district level meeting, permission needs to be obtained from the General Secretary.
Any electorate organizers, MPs or officials who do not adhere to these laws will be brought before a disciplinary committee.
Meanwhile, the UNP parliamentary committee will meet at the parliamentary premises today.
The duties of each member will be discussed at this meeting and a proposal will be submitted to the working committee on the 27th of this month.
