The symptoms of mumps are experienced 14 days after the virus enters the body.
This disease is spread through saliva and air between 03 days prior to it and 09 days from showing off the symptoms.
The Ministry of Health pointed out that therefore, patients with mumps should keep away from places where large crowds of people gather.
Within the past few days, mumps spread rapidly among 02 schools in Bobuwala in Kalutara where approximately 110 students were affected by this contagious disease.
It was controlled by temporarily closing the relevant schools.
