There have been several strikes launched within the Health Sector including the strike launched by the supplementary medical staff of Government Hospitals which came to a halt today.

However, minor staff operating within Government Hospitals has refrained from reporting to work by applying for sick leave.

The Health Sectors Joint Trade Union Alliance stated that activities within hospitals operating under the Central Government and Provincial Councils have been interrupted due to this action.

Accordingly, our news team also made inquiries from the Deputy Minister of Health Lalith Dissanayake and he went onto state that activities in hospitals operating under the Central Government and Provincial Councils have not been interrupted…

However, several individuals and patients have been inconvenienced due to this action launched by the minor staff.

Reports added that the mortuary of the Alpitiya Base Hospital has been locked up due to the strike launched by the minor staff, hence causing inconveniences to several individuals who had made an attempt to remove a body lying within the mortuary.
