The airport customs have found 36 bird eggs which were brought illegally into the country by a Sri Lankan holding a British passport.

Customs officials stated that the eggs belong to several different bird species and have been handed over to the Department of Zoology.

Customs sources also added that this is the first time such a find was made in Sri Lanka although bird egg smuggling is a key business worldwide.
