The Sri Lankan tour of the Indian parliamentary representative group led by the Opposition Leader of the Indian Parliament Sushma Swaraj has been postponed.
The Indian all party parliamentary representatives were scheduled to arrive in the island next month.
However, they fear that a protest would arise against India within the country due to the Indian objection against Sri Lanka at the Geneva Human Rights Council session.
The ‘Times of India’ newspaper reported that as a result, this tour would not take place at this moment.
Member of the Congress Party Rajya Sabha and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Congress Unit B. S. Gnanadesikan stated that the Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry will discuss once again with the Sri Lankan government in relation to this tour.
Speaking further the member of the Congress Party Rajya Sabha and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Congress Unit stated that Sushma Swaraj who was named as the Leader of the Indian parliamentary group which will tour in Sri Lanka will decide on the new date.
