Environmental organisations allege that the Department of Wildlife Conservation has given permission to the Sri Lanka Export Board to sell and grow Kothalahimbutu which is an endemic plant of Sri Lanka.

The National Coordinator of the Centre for Eco-cultural Studies Raveendra Kariyawasam stated that this move is a violation of the Wild Animals and Plants Ordinance.

When our News Team inquired the Chairman of the Central Environment Authority Charitha Herath with this regard, he stated that measures have been taken to look into the matter.
