The Health Ministry has issued a circular prohibiting private pharmaceutical representative from entering government hospitals.

We spoke to Deputy Minister of Health Lalith Dissanayaka to find out the reasons behind this circular.

The Deputy Minister stated that private pharmaceutical representatives often pressure doctors to purchase or prescribe their products

He added that it was as a result of complaints received by several doctors that this decision to prevent the representatives from entering government hospitals was made.
