The government’s stance regarding the US sponsored resolution that was passed at the Geneva Human Rights Council was officially announced today.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G L Peiris speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today stated that the government will not bow down to any external pressure.
The external affairs minister added that with the passing of the resolution, economic sanctions can not be brought against Sri Lanka.
He added that therefore the people should not fear the resolution.
Speaking further Prof G L Peiris added that Sri Lanka’s foreign policy has not changed due to the current situation.
He also said that the government’s policy will remain the betterment of the people.
