Sources of the Ceylon Workers’ Congress state that another discussion is scheduled to be held this evening between the Leader of the Ceylon Workers' Congress Deputy Minister Muththusivalingam and the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapakse with regard to the current situation which has arisen following the resignation of the Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development Arumugam Thondaman from the government.
It is reported that the reasons which resulted in the resignation of Minister Arumugam Thondaman from the government will be further discussed during this meeting.
Minister Arumugam Thondaman forwarded his letter of resignation from his ministerial portfolio to President Mahinda Rajapakse last evening.
It was reported that this resignation letter was forwarded based on a controversial issue which arose in relation to an official of the National Livestock Development Board.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Muththusivalingam and Minister Basil Rajapakse held a discussion this morning too.
Speaking to our News Team, a representative of the Ceylon Workers' Congress stated that the discussion which was held this morning was a success.
