The CID informed the courts today that 58 individuals have been questioned with regard to the theft of several priceless artefacts from the Colombo National Museum.
The CID had informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappulli that the suspects along with the stolen items have not been recovered as yet.
Meanwhile, the security cameras within the museum have been dispatched to the IT division of the Colombo University in order to obtain the information recorded within it.
Accordingly, several fragments recovered from the scene of theft have been sent for DNA tests to the molecular science faculty of the Ragama Hospital.
Subsequently, Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappulli ordered immediate arrest of suspects involved in this incident along with the presentation of reports pertaining to the ongoing lab tests.
