The Opposition councillors of the Galle Municipal Council allege that a large amount of municipal tax rupees is lost due to not charging the entertainment tax from fans arriving to watch the England-Sri Lanka test match at the Galle International Stadium.

Chief Organizer of the opposition Jilith Nishantha speaking to our news team stated that this is an injustice to the people living in the Galle municipal city limits.

When we spoke to deputy mayor of the Galle Municipal Council he stated that the decision not to charge the entertainment tax was taken based on a request made by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

We also attempted to contact Chief Minister of the Southern Province Shan Wijeyalal De Silva regarding this matter but were unable to get through to him.
