Acting minister of Mass media and Information and Cabinet Spokesperson, Luxman Yapa Abeywardena, stated that the government is yet to issue an official statement regarding the proposition adopted against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC summit in Geneva.

He made this statement during a press conference held recently in response to questions raised by the media regarding a statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The minister of foreign affairs Professor G. L. Peiris, expressing the stance of the government stated that the Sri Lankan government does not agree with the Geneva proposition in the same press conference.

However, in the cabinet press briefing held today, Minister Luxman Yapa Abeywardena stated that Prof. G. L. Peiris was stating his personal stance and not that of the government.

NFF politburo member Piyasiri Wjenayaka, in a press conference held today, stated that Prof. G. L. Peiris was part of the delegation that represented Sri Lanka in the Geneva convention.
