The Sri Lanka Railways and Sri Lanka Transportation Board have taken measures to implement a special transportation programme in view of the New Year season.
The Transportation Superintendent of the Sri Lanka Railways L.A.R. Ratnayake stated that measures have been taken to include additional railway journeys for many areas from the 0th of April to the end of the New Year season.
However, the Sri Lanka Railways has announced that transportation services on the coastal railway line between Galle and Aluthgama will be temporarily suspended for 03 days.
Accordingly, the Transportation Superintendent of the Sri Lanka Railways stated that the railway transportation services between Galle and Aluthgama will be temporarily suspended on the 06th, 07th and 08th of April.
Speaking further the Transportation Superintendent of the Sri Lanka Railways pointed out that this is a result of a decision which has been taken to repair 02 bridges on the relevant route.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transportation Board has deployed approximately 1,000 buses in view of the New Year season.
Speaking to our News Team, a Senior Spokesperson for the Sri Lanka Transportation Board stated that buses have been deployed to every area from the Central Bus Stand.
