The State Bank Employees have decided to take a trade union action by not working overtime from the 9th of this month.

The employees are currently engaged in a trade union action by not supporting the management as a result of a breakdown of talks regarding the salary increments due every 3 years.

In response to a question posed by the media about the salary increments due to state bank employees, a senior officer of the Treasury stated that a resolution can be obtained only by talks between the bank management and the workers' union.

Deputy Minister of Finance, Geethanjana Gunawardana was unavailable for comment as he was in parliament at the time.
