A special bus service has been implemented to facilitate the transportation
requirements of commuters travelling during the festive season.
This service has been implemented jointly by the Sri Lanka transport
board & the national transportation commission.
Under this initiative, special bus services will be deployed to ply all routes
spanning forth from the central bus stand in Colombo fort.
According to the Sri Lanka transport board around one thousand buses have been
deployed under this initiative. Moreover, a special train service will
also be implemented with effect from tomorrow to facilitate the
transportation requirements of commuters during the festive season.
Meanwhile around 6000 police officers are to be deployed in Colombo
and adjacent suburbs during the upcoming festive season, according to
the department of police. The objective of this initiative is to
provide the public with adequate security.
According to police media spokesperson s.p. ajith rohana additional
police officers have already been deployed to key townships of the
country at present.
