A retired Major of the Sri Lanka Army has assaulted a student of the Dharmaraja College in Kandy who participated at the International Scout Jamboree which is currently being held at the D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya in Kandalama.
The relevant student is currently obtaining treatment at the Kandy General Hospital while a Spokesperson at the Kandy General Hospital stated that the condition of the student is not serious.
The hospitalised student is a resident of Levla and is a grade 13 student of Dharmaraja College.
The Police stated that this assault was a result of a heated conversation which arose between the relevant student and this retired major who acted as the coach during the jamboree.
This scout jamboree commenced recently under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse in view of the completion of 100 years for the Sri Lanka Scouts Movement.
