Frontline Summit begins; Makes request from Australian government

The maiden party convention of the Jana Argala Movement now know as the ront Line Socialist party is currently being held at the premises of the sugathadasa indoor stadium.

The central working committee of the party is also due to be elected during today's convention.

This is due to take place during the Second party session which is slated to be held this evening.

Making the welcome address at the venue, party representative chameera koswatta stated that those including the recently abducted kumara gunaratnam would continue to represent the party.



Organizers of the Inaugural Summit of the Frontline Socialist Party allege that the police have forcibly removed decorations that had been put up around the Sugathadasa Stadium where the summit is to be held.

The members of the party staged a protest this morning outside the stadium against the actions of the police.

However, police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana speaking to our news team had this to say.

Expressing his views to our news team party member Chameera koswatta alleged the police of having disposed of these decorations.

However our news team sought the views of police media spokesperson S.P. ajith rohana regarding the allegations levelled against them by the organisers of the front line socialist movement.



Meanwhile, wife of senior member of the Frontline Leftist Party Kumar Gunaratnam has requested the Australian government to intervene into the alleged kidnapping of her husband in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Champa Somaratna speaking to the Australia Broadcasting Corporation stated that she has made a request to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard as she fears for her husband’s life.

However, in response the Australian government has stated that the Australian High Commissioner in Colombo has been instructed to look into the situation and welfare of Kumar Gunaratnam who is an Australian citizen.
