The affects of the April 11th Sumatra Earthquake were also felt in Sri Lanka.

The tremors felt in Matara caused fissures in the main school building of the Kamburugamuwa Maha Vidyalaya in Weligama.

The principal of the school Nimal Munasinghe stated that there is a threat of the roof collapsing as well.
