The Colombo National Hospital states that an increase is experienced in the number of accidents which occurred during this New Year season.
The Chief Training Nurse Pushpa Ramyani Soysa stated that this is a 4% increase.
According to the Chief Training Nurse Pushpa Ramyani Soysa, an increase was also experienced in the number of individuals who were hospitalised due to these accidents which is 22% at the Colombo National Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Dambulla Hospital stated that 02 individuals had died from road accidents which occurred as a result of drunk driving.
A spokesperson for the Dambulla Hospital stated that 25 individuals were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital yesterday due to accidents which occurred from drunk driving.
However, as at yesterday, the police had arrested more than 87 individuals due to driving under the influence of alcohol.
