Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who is currently on a tour of India met with the country's Congress Leader Sonia Ghandi yesterday.
During the meeting the Leader of the Opposition stated that when a political solution is being presented to the Tamil community of Sri Lanka, it should be a solution that is of Sri Lankan origin.
The Leader of the Opposition stated that the devolution of power in this regard should take place based on the 13th amendment to the constitution.
Ranil Wickremesinghe also noted that the UNP was a political party which strongly believed in a political solution for the country's Tamil community, saying that all parties should converge to make it a reality.
Maithree Wickremesinghe is also said to have taken part in this meeting which was held within close quarters of several family members of Sonia Ghandi and her family.
According to sources, the Leader of the Opposition will travel to the Sikim province in India today accompanied by Maithree Wickremesinghe.
The Leader of the Opposition is due to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 17th of April.
