Palmadulla Majistrate Chandani Niranjala Diyas ordered that the 4 suspects of the Kahawatta dual homicide case be remanded yet again until the 23rd of April.
Appearing before court, the chief suspect of the case as well as his wife, pleaded of court to provide them with the opportunity to make a confession.
Subsequent to the case being taken up, the suspects made an 'in-curia' statement at the official court chambers of the Palmadulla. This is the first instance in which the chief suspect of the case named 'Raju' had requested of court to make such a confession.
The confession made by the wife of the chief suspect marks the second occasion on which she had done so.
Meanwhile the CID requested of court to have the bone & fingernail samples of the two deceased women sent to the 'GENE-TEC' institute.
Accordingly the Magistrate had ordered the remnants of the two victims to be sent over to the relevant institution. In a further development when the case was taken up previously, it was ordered that the CID provide information before court regarding the bank account details of one of the suspects.
In keeping with this order today, the CID provided court with the details of 3 private bank accounts. It was noted by the CID that none of the banks had accounts maintained by the suspect.
